The gears float Gene. They are supposed to. Like I told Scott, once its all in motion there is no slack, the rotation of the gears removes the lash from the setup. It really does work well and gotta say "Aint had a problem yet" and yup I have gotten on the car pretty good a few times with no ill effects. Have I mentioned how much I love thruway on ramps?? :D:chirp:

all the sets of gear drives i have install have one of the pins in the idler gears long enough that i have had to trim it so it was just short of touching the cover.that way even though they are made to stay back if it drifted foward it could only move about 1/10 on an inch

For me it's the noise. I want my exhaust to produce the thumpty sound, my diff to make ratchetting sounds and my engine to whurrr.
In my opinion a double roller chain is best but I'm not planning to be racing.. just looking and sounding different.

Makes people think they have a Blower:bananaman:bananaman
But the down side is they also transfer the crank shaft harmonics up to the cam, Which can cause the valve train to become unstable at certain rpm,s.

ive heard this also from race engine builders. belt drive is the best to use for racing. then chain. gear drive is primarly just a thing for people who want noise.
the reality is that a street motor will probly never be effected by the vibration transmission from a gear drive but the fact is the gear drive does transfer the vibrations.
