    Hi guys
I am looking to buy my first maverick or comet. Can anyone offer any advice of which years can offer the best bang for the buck? Also, which years have rear staggered shocks?

Feel free to share pics of your baby as I am looking for ideas.

    Thanks

    Cliff

I think it depends on what you are goin for with your car. The earlier models look better but one thing the later models have is disc brakes from '74 up.

I also think they all have staggered shocks, except for maybe the 1970 models. I can't remember if my '70 had them or not, but my '73 does.

bang for your buck is to find a v8 maverick. stock they were all just 2bbl carbs. the earlyer years are lighter due to less saftey stuff. the disk brakes can be put onto the earlyer ones easly.

You are correct. My 69.5 has both shocks forward of the rear end. Makes for a severe wheel hop, unless you use a traction bar of some type. I use slapper bars, and they work just fine.:)

Also depends on your skills and what you can do yourself (or get done for free). If you would have to farm out rust repair work, look for a rust free car.

In general, labor costs are a hard on the budget.
