    what exhast
what transmission and stall speed of the conveter if its an auto.
    what rear gear ratio

Define "high horsepower" as it applies here.

And what you plan on doing with the car.

That cam is a hydraulic cam, I don't know that Edelbrock even makes a solid cam. If you want to make that kind of power I would go with one of Edelbrocks packages. They give good power with drivability and are designed to work together.

I was wondering what do you think was the cause of the major power decreases in the 70s 302s compared to the 60s i mean i know they changed how they rate power but they were much slower

Compression Ratio, also they needed to pass emissions standards.

All that early EGR crap robbed horsepower.

the emission stuff on cars today is much better and you can have the best of both worlds.

    Power and clean emissions :bouncy:

Look for some e7 heads or gt40s, not the gt40Ps. Good flowing cast iron heads, and can be got for cheap. e7s go for 50-100 a pair, gt40s for 150-300 a pair.

I am running gt40 heads and getting about 330 hp. Plenty quick in our small and light cars, but I still drive it all over the roads and highways.
