I finally got off my recliner and out in the garage, the last 2 nights, and got my door bars in place. Still need to weld them in solid and then I can move on to the rear of the cage.
I've never seen door bars shaped like that. Or for that matter the rear cross bar in that fashion. What kind of racing are you building this for?
I'm building the car mainly to drive and enjoy plus entering it in weekend car shows. The lowered rear cross bar just allows full use of the back seat. I looked at a lot of tuner door bar photos that were done somewhat like this. To me, it will be a bit easier to get in and out of the car, front seat and back seat. I also bent the door bars to clear the long chrome deluxe arm rest bases so I'm not losing any functions of the doors.
Great looking job I am sure it will stiffen up the suspension a lot. It is built to carnival ride specs
This project never started out with any 1/4 mile purpose in mind so I'm not sure if it would be NHRA legal or not. All of the round tubing is 1.5 inch .095 wall tubing which is what I would have been using if I was building another circle track car.
