this guy has an engine and i am wondering what head he has on and he said "The only numbers that I could find on the outside was a 25 stamped on the passenger side head. However, I was told that the angle of the spark plugs also identifies the heads. They are angled forward if that helps." what heads are those and if thats not good info where can i tell him to look
angle forward? did he put them on backwards? the only head that you can tell by the angle are the gt40 and gt40P. Gt40 have the regular angle plugs, the "P"s have more of a staright shot, which makes headers selection a PITA. the casting numbers are usually under the head, on the chamber side.
you need to look under the intake ports of the heads to find the casting numbers. to do this you need the head to be off the motor or at least the intake mainfold off the motor then use a mirror to read the casting numbers. gt40 heads have 2 spikes on the front by the acessory mounting holes and gt40p heads have 3 spikes if i rember correctly.
well hmmmm i would look at the block casting numbers on the back drivers side to see the year and if its a cheep enuf engine just buy it and if its not what your looken for sell it at the same price? or just the heads you should take them off eny way to see if the cylanders have a ridge in them, dang mine did so bad that it needs to be bored 30 over. but i only pated 100 for it
Gt-40 have 3 bars on front of the heads, gt-40P have 4 bars on the front of the heads. Ask what the number is on the block down by the starter. Any Idea what the motor is out of? EFI intake? If so Which one, description of intake?
