I have a few questions about them. Can you use them with a duraspark distributor and do all of them have a rev limiter. I might not need it with my combo but the transmission will be on borrowed time and if something happens I want a rev limiter

they only have a rev-limiter if they have -AL in them.

I have an MSD 6 with no rev limiter. I can hit 8k if I want to. Maybe twice. I doubt much more than that. I might have chunks of pistons and rods in the front seat with me the 2nd or 3rd time around.

Perfect rev limiter is a E303 cam with 1.7 rockers and stock gt40 heads with 140,000 miles on them. Bet it won't make it over 5k with out valve float. Guess how I know!

Forget the Duraspark or MSD. Install a Pertronix III and you will have a complete ign with Multi-strike and a rev limiter. And it fits inside a standard Dist. nothing obvious. A whole less hassle and more dependable.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
the SF has a built in rev limiter :bouncy:

It's not as powerful and the number boxes, but for street cars its more than enough. It's also the cheapest.

Yes, it will...and I would recommend pn#8869...it's an adapter from MSD that plugs directly into the Duraspark distributor...completely negating cutting or splicing any wires. It's under $15, and well worth it.

Mine is similar, but I DID swap springs to match my cam. I routinely shift at 6500, periodically 7000. Never have hit the float-point.

Did you swap your springs out?

When I had the float problems I still had stock springs. Now on that engine I have trick-flow twisted wedge heads and all is well. The rev limit in the ECM is 6,250 to give the torque converter a break.
