Hi all , boy was I surprised to actually find a forum dedicated to these vehicles. I'm from NYS. My father recently gave me his 1976 Mercury Comet with 68000 original miles on it. It's an odd yellow color, straight 6 200 CI and rides like a dream. Unfortunately it sat in a barn for nearly 5 years so it developed some small spotty rust here and there. Some of the spotty rust is on the inside of the doors, (which I thought they were vinyl but apparently not). I'm trying to get that cleaned up. The passenger side front and rear doors have a small amount on the lower part of them and there's a small hole in the rear quarter panel at the bottom where you can't really see it unless you're looking for it. It needed a new resonator, muffler, heater core and a minor tune up. It runs and rides like a new car, and the thing that amazed me was that the AC works great, although I'm having it converted to R134 as it is R12 right now. I say amazing though because every used car I ever owned that supposedly had AC, never had working AC in it. Overall it's a sweet car and apparently I'm the only one that owns one in a large area. Gets a lat of compliments and offers. I'll post some pics soon. Looking forward to talking "Comets". Take care Brad
