What is a roller motor? I don't understand what it refers to. I never really paid attention to what was under the hood beyond locating oil dip stick and where to add window wash fluid. I am making an effort to learn now.

A roller motor refers to an engine from the factory that came with a roller cam instead of a flat tappet cam. Ford switched to roller cams in the mid '85 - '86.

When people say "roller motor" they're referring to an engine with roller tappets or lifters. Google "roller lifter" and you'll find info and pictures that will explain it. (y)

    Thanks

Thanks. I am not going to ask about the difference in cam styles (yet). I will research those. I am enjoying learning about the mechanical side of cars.
