I was recently in the process of buying a 1967 Coronet RT 440 car. I went to see a friend that lives and breaths Mopars to verify the authenticity of the RT. Stuffed into a corner, covered with bird crap and dust was a bright lime Grabber. I continued my pursuit of the RT but the Grabber kept creeping up from the back of my mind. I scrapped the notion of buying the Mopar and started down the path of acquiring the Grabber. After a few weeks of negotiations and a hefty sum of cash, I now owned the Maverick. It is a real Grabber and was originally a 302 AT car. When I bought it, it had a heavily built 351W bolted to a 4 speed. The car is in excellent condition from top to bottom. It needs little things but every car seems to need little things. When I bought the car the owner had just switched out the rearend gears. It had 456's in it and he changed them to 279s. the first was to high and the second is to low. I have been looking for something around 325 but I have not found it yet. the car is a blast to drive and it gets so much attention everywhere I go. It even took first place in a car show that I entered it in. Who knew that people would vote for a Maverick?
from Northeast Pennsylvania Wow - what a big drop in gearing you took. No wonder you're looking to go back up some. My 9 inch had 3.50's but I just bought a set of 3.89's to help out my cam selection somewhat. By the way - where are you from?
After 10 post's your allowed to. But if you have them on another site you can link them to here :Handshake
No this is not the car you speak of. Just about everything on and in the car was done to look as if it came from the factory that way. If you know Mavericks you can see things that Ford did not offer like the color match bumpers, the 351 and the 4spd. If you don't know Mavericks intimately all the items looks correct. I cant tell you how many people have come up to me to tell me how they had a friend with a factory 351 "just like this one". Now we know this cant be true but I nod in agreement and listen to their story. In the end were all happy.
