can i use the charcoal canister vent return on the firewall as an electric fuel pump return line? the car has a 302 roller in it now (was 250) and i no longer have use for the canister. it has been removed and the line is sitting there staring at me.

The top of the tank has a 1-way valve preventing the return flow. If you take care of that problem and vent the tank then it should work.

cant you just drill out the valve? instead of removing it.

The best way is to remove the valve and grommet from the tank and use a bulkhead fitting in the tank for the return line. Drilling the valve won't do no good because the rubber gromment is where it will leak. The hard part would be working through the sending unit hole to install the fitting...but that's why they make little kids with little hands and little arms. Or use bubble gum on a stick.:biglaugh:

If you use the vent for a return line then you need to run a new vent line or the tank will vapor-lock. You are better off installing a return line to the tank.

I didn't use the line for the return,( it is to small in my opinion) but i did use the fitting that was on the tank. You will need to remove the top, It removes the same as the sending unit. Remove or drill out the baffle. Then run a vented gas cap. This is how i did mine. I have no issues with leaking or any vent problems.

If you're running a carb(with no power adders) and feel you need a fuel return line, you've got a pump that's too big to start with.

yea but i got a holly blue for free and it is feeding a 302 roller with a 650 holly on top. cant argue with free so i run a return line.

 Sometimes "free" parts end up costing you twice as much money as the part you actually need. :16suspect
