Let's stop and think about the guy down the block who is out of work when you start to buy a product that is made in china. if all u.s. citizens did this we would not have a bad economy.:tiphat:

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
On all the mustang forums im on everyone says to buy them bare then assemble them yourself with quality valvetrain.

Also i heard Pro comp was bought by some Chinese company, so their not made in Australia anymore. But its just forum gossip so you cant take everything you hear seriously

Just adding a little note,,, If You buy any complete heads (new) ALWAYS best to disassemble and CLEAN, repeat CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN debris and check valve seats !

Seen some of the top head companies that had enough crap left in heads that for sure would give your engine a good sandblasting.

Here is a quote from sbftech site from people that know all about the pro comp heads.

Seriously, been discussed more time than Carter has liver pills.

    They are cheap chinese junk.
    The seats fall out.
The seats are not concentric with the guides.
    The valves cost 0.75 each.

    This list is long.

You buy them, you are a fool.

I am not trying to start a war here and am glad people are happy with the ones they are using and having good success with just showing what people more experience than most of us have to say.

The car I just bought has PC heads on a 331 stroker. They've been on the car for a while and seen quite a bit of track time. It still runs like a champ (IMO) but I didn't build the engine or heads so that's all I can say.

Reading this does give me some concern. Is there any way to do a quick eval of the heads/valves/guides without removing them?

i ported my stock heads out and notced a diffrence

and my friend destroyed a GT40 head after geting greedy and not wanting to stop porting and broke into a water gacket on the exhaust side :biglaugh: after i toled him to stop

i would port any heads i plan to put on my car
it's is to easy not to do it
just smooth everything out and take down some of the sidewalls for more direct flow

i use these bits to port it

Depends on what you're doing with them. Just opening up the runners? Port matching to your intake? Reshaping the combustion chambers? Polishing the cc's?

Just a basic port-match should be in the $100 range...???...but there's a lot of into and videos online to do that yourself too.

On the price of any head, The old saying " you get what you pay for" Although now days, What you get for your money is getting less and less. Case in point, I have used the ACC carpet for years, Always been the best quality for the money imo. I just got in some for a jeep, Quality has taken a turn for the worse. Even their packaging has taken a turn down. Back to the Heads, AFR has always been the better quality of most aftermarket heads. However the last set we got had lesser quality valves of previous sets.
