Oh and lets not forget the mid-late 70s Ford trucks that had purple interior...I had one. A big rusty purple and white 3/4 ton 4wd with purple interior....I can't even picture what it looked like new. I wore that one out 4 wheeling and bought another and it had a weird shade of green interior. Outside was sort of a seafoam green and white. I think the designers back then were smoking a little too much wacky tobaccy!

Hopefully this weekend I will be able to take a look at the car. It's in storage but I am going to get my brothers truck so I will be at the garage. I will take a picture of the actual door tag. Time permitting I will maybe take one of the rear panels off to see what is behind it.

It's funny that some of us have been talking about interior/exterior color combinations. has anybody taken a lok at the interiors lately? Some of them have 4 or 5 different colors in them. WTF is that? An what ever happend to a real black interior? Where did that go??? I really miss that!

Here is what I have found.

The door tag on the car is coded as black interior.
The Marti report says black interior.
I finally found the build sheet. It was under the front carpet. It has the codes for a blue interior.

I guess somebody changed the order or ordered a car with a blue interior and Ford just change a car that had the other options that the customer wanted.

Should it have come with blue seatbelts? Mine has black.

So I guess that solves the mystry?

Still doesn't solve the mystery for me. Ha, Ha.

Post up the build sheet, I would like to look at it. Look it over carefully. Does it have the VIN of YOUR car on it? Maybe it is the wrong build sheet (for a different car). Once the mistake was made...too late to fix it...and out the door it went.

Stranger things have happened...Quality Is Job 1 !!! And so was getting a pack of smokes, and a shot of whiskey, on the line in St.Thomas in the 70's...

Per request - Build sheet, Marti Report and the Sticker. The VIN matches. If you look at the time between the scheduled build date and t he actual build d ate, it's about 3 months. My guess is that somebody changed the order or wanted something special. Just a guess......

I like the breakdown of costs - 10 gallons of gas was $4. And that was probably inflated at the dealer.

Oh yeah, those were the days....

My guess is that the build sheet was a misprint on the interior. (Should have been printed BA instead of BB). Mistake wasn't caught....and on down the line the car rolled as workers just did what the build sheet said to do.

I agree. I did think about that. That car wouldn't get out of the factory today.

Who ever ordered that car was probably pretty p.o.ed when it arrived.

In 76 almost everything could be ordered with some variation of Red White and Blue. It was the Bicentennial. I think if someone could have figured out a way to do it they would have given birth to RW&B triplets.
