i set my 302 and c-4 in the 70 mav today and it didnt take long ,the only road block ive ran into is the double hump crossmember i cant get it to line up the the top holes which on other mavs ive had lined up well ,i can line either side up but when i try to get the other side it will not work do i need to drill a new hole on one side? Was this another one of those issues with the 70 being different ?By the way it the later 70 not the 69 1/2

I am not sure what to tell you my friend, I am still thinking about mine too. I have a similiar issue. I am doing and aod swap on mine though. I have considered drilling new holes and welding in new inserts for the crossmember. or bending my crossmember to fit, My frame is straight and the engine is square in the chassis. So best I can figure I need to do some modifying.

If I remember correctly I ended up just slotting the holes in the double hump crossmember with a die grinder and made it work in my 69 1/2..... Then again I could be wrong, after all that was 20 years ago.....

Same here putting the V8 crossmember in my 70, had to slot the bolt holes and cut a little out of the top surface to clear one of the mounting "horns" on the car.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I'm getting ready to do a V-8 transplant on my 70 Grabber....

Keep in mind that a 69.5 - 70 never had a V8 from the factory and this "double hump crossmember" was more than likely developed after that 1970 model year. The correct double hump mounting holes do not exist in a 70. :)
