I blew a chunk of the cam shaft out the bottom of my 200, only right after my tranny slipped while I was going up a giant hill at 55. So I need a new motor and tranny.

I found a guy with a 1986 5L H.O. with a 5-speed. I heard that the conversion to an '86 5L is more complex. This is gunna be my first conversion. ever. ALL information you can give me, the parts I'll need(where to get them would be nice too). Any special modifications? Any experienced advice to make it easier/simpler?

The guy wants to sell me the whole car, but he's willing to take what's left of it when I'm done. Are there any parts I could take off it to upgrade what I got now? I'd like to be as informed as possible before I get too dirty.

I'm sure there's questions I don't even know I need to ask, so any info is appreciated.

    Thanks!

so all this i was reading about having to change the oil pump and exhaust manifold and do an electric fuel pump. Isn't necessary? It's pretty basic?

you need to change the oil pan to a front sump, manifolds need to be maverick V8 manifolds, but if your doing the swap just put in headers while your at it.

And there's no need to use an electic fuel pump unless you want to. If you want a manual one just swap in an ealier front cover that has the provision for it.

I was like 14 when i first got my maverick and i knew nothing. Lol At 16 i did my first 6-8 swap.

at 17 you should be able to figure out things more easaly, plus you have this board, just read the tech articles over and over, And stop in here whenever you have questions (y)
