Well I busted my first knuckle today loosing a bolt to try and get my front bumper more inline/strait with the grill. I have a bad left leg that hurts all the time, so I have a very high tolerance for pain, but DAMN that hurt :badwords:. Does this make me an official old car owner?

I work in Tech for a living. I sliced my middle finger knuckle down to the bone on a 2 ring binder. Took 9 stitches. Of course I always come up with a better story when asked about the scar. :rofl2:

Hey I did that on a 66 Cadillac. Slipped on the fuel bowl and slammed my hand right into the air cleaner base. No stitches but should have. Got infected and ended up on huge antibiotics. That was about 25 years ago and the knuckle is still numb and hurts like hell if I bang it. Lots more stories but maybe we should start an injury thread.:biglaugh:

the worst injuries are the pneumatic injuries . . . a pneumatic tool is used that has oil or some other chemical in it and if the operator by mistake shoots it into their hand the oil can travel along the tendons and tendon sheaths and if it's not caught very early there goes the hand because the oil creeps up all over the place really fast . . .

Well now you took the fun out of it.:)
    Heres a dangerous one.
Direct injection diesels at 20000 plus psi fuel pressure. a small leak maybe not visible goes right through the skin and like you said big trouble, even death with diesel in your blood.

here is one you can get if you get a severe trauma to the top of the middle knuckle that goes untreated. . . called swan neck deformity. The mdidle knuckle being the one that looks all sunken in the pic below:

I dropped a upright air compressor while unloading it from my truck. My little finger got stucked in the cooling fins on its way down and my knees and back wouldn't bent fast as the compressor was falling. The weight pulled my finger out of the socket. It hurt worst going back where it came from than it did coming out. Took about 6 months before I got full use of my hand.

A couple years ago, I accidentally reached too far into my engine bay when it was running... Took me a second to realize what the noise was and why my hand was vibrating, luckily it only took off part of my right ring finger. All that's left now is a scar where the big gash was, hardly noticeable.

a very common injury you should try to avoid: people come into the ER and they were usually holding onto a rag, a wrench or something and were cleaning or fixing something with the car running . . . the fan or some moving part grabs the tool or rag and your body's reflex is to grasp onto something that's pulled out of your hands . . . so their hand follows and they mangle the hand really bad. very common with people holding a rag and working on a running motorcycle for some reason.

I busted my knuckles on a ring gear while removing the torque converter bolts twice in a row, I got smarter on the third and last one .
For the most part I do a pretty good job at not smashing and slicing fingers . I work for a well drilling company and I`m constantly telling my coworkers to watch out for there fingers .

Pressure washers, drill presses, oxy-acetylene torches, welders, grinders, wire wheels, and countless other tools are very serious business, as I've learned at the school of hard knocks. Tattoos are for pansy's. Real men have scars.
