I unplugged the choke, turned the dizzy toward the passenger side about 5 degrees and unplugged the plunger thing on the carb linkage. Then I tightened the screws that hold the accelerator pump in place and stuck my trucks battery in it. Pumped the gas twice and turned the key. Vroom...idle at 900rpm. Turned it off, then got out and reached in through the window and turned the key, vroom...idle at 900rpm. Drove it up the street no problem at all. Drives same as it ever did...no surging or rough idle no failure to crank. Just like having my presumed dead pet walk through the front door after 6 months and sitting down to eat like nothing happened. Weird and wonderful. Now I need to get the turn signals reinstalled and since I threw away my sweet shelf grill I need to create another with something. I'm thinking some chromed eggcrate diffuser I have that went to an office fluorescent light. It will be straight across so it'll be hidden sort of. It won't look bad. It idled for about 20 minutes before it started to dump hot water out of the radiator runoff hose so I need to get that Taurus fan installed asap too. Lots to do! Anyways, I'M BAAAAaaaaAAAAACK!!!
You'll get it! Mine was my everyday driver until it simply stopped running for some reason. I still don't know what happened but this small drive really made me jones for my old car back.
Considering the shape mine was in when i got it, i have come a long way. But i dont see the light anywhere in sight.
It is hot down here, thats why it stoped running.... haha. Glad to hear you got her up and running again.
The battery I was using when it died tested positive for two bad cells. I brought along my coveted Optima Red and it too had a bad cell...dood...thats so lame it limps.
Good to hear its runnin again. It sucks to have your Maverick (or Comet) out of commission. I haven't driven mine for a while cause of a leakin oil pan gasket. I can't wait to start drivin it again.
