Some state police have units to assist in fitting infant seats. May want to call your police and ask, 3a's (AAA) may help also.

the car seat will need to be rear facing, and the base of the infant carrier will need to be strapped to the seat in some way. most car seats have provisions for using the seat belt to strap the base of the car seat to the car. I believe Graco or any similar brand should have a car seat you are looking for. hopefully your daughter has a 4 door Mav because putting the infant carrier with the infant in it will be difficult to do with a 2 door. and the space the rear facing seat takes up might make it tight in the front because the front seat may need to be positioned all the way forward.
    good luck and congrats!

My dad had to get rid of his Mav because they couldn't fit my brothers carseat in the back. I hope you find what you're looking for though.

The base on the graaco seats is actually optional. They have some very cryptic pictures showing how to use the seat without the base. The thing i would be worried about is that new style seats do not work well with old style belts.

It is very possible you will need to put in new seat belts. Heck i almost had to put new belts into my comet for my daughters booster seat. My sister tried to get me to put the seat for her 2 year old in and it just was way too much hassle. I would definitely get new belts if my wife got pregnant again.

Also, it is NOT illegal to put your infant seat in the front seat if there is no room in the back, and you do not have air bags. Therefore do not feel pressured to put the infant seat in the back. In fact if there is most likely safer to put it in the front of a maverick.

Also most good hospitals can help direct you to either a police or non-profit agency to help with picking out and properly installing a car seat in your car.
