    Yay!! no more exhaust leak!!!
    Booo!! I miss the power!!
Thinking of just doing a 2 1/2 inch straight pipe for my exhaust now. I think the last time I measured my tailpipe opening it was 7/8"..... That's just p-poor.
    2 1/2 sound good to you guys on a 71 250? Maybe 2 1/2 with a muffler or 2 1/4 without... idk.

run a muffler, if you plan on doing more upgrades go with the 2.5. If its just a stockish build than 2.25 should be enough.

If you want you could always use a dual out let muffler, then have two tailpipes out the back, I like turbo mufflers on these sixes.

I'd say I'll probably throw a 2 bbl and a cold air intake on there in the near future. that'll probably be it for engine performance upgrades and this engine.
If I do two tailpipes the formula changes right? to equal a single 2.5 straight pipe i would need tow 1inch pipes (there about)? I can't remember how it's calculated. Thanks for the input! :tiphat:

depends...are you wanting to do duals from the manifold back? or just the muffler back?

if I went duals I'd probably go manifold back so that I have the option of sidepiping. are there pro's to splitting at the muff besides ease of getting the pipe a good fit?

If you can get a dual outlet header that would be best. But if you cant then just a Y pipe with 1 7/8" or 2" pipe should work!

As for the muffler yes it fits better,

#1 you wont use as much pipe, and their shouldn't be any loss vs duals.
(The LS1 F body cars used this setup)

#2 unless you swapped it out your only going to have a notch on the passanger side of your transmission crossmember. So if you want to do duals you might need to swap to a double hump V8 crossmember.

I'd personally go with duals from the muffler back, thats the setup i had on this car:

Obviously your car needs more colorful wiring(+10hp), a hoodscoop(+20hp) and a floor shifter between bucket seats(+50hp).

    That should be enough.

Sounds like your muffler or exhaust is stopped up if it cut the power that much. A good 2 .25" exhaust will be plenty for that 6, with a good flowing turbo muffler. Sixes tend to be too raspy sounding with a loud muffler like a glasspack. Jamie Miles has a split system on his, it sounds real good for a six. You might want to ask him what kind of muffler he's running. He has posted some video of it on here before.
