ah. Then it's probably because you're stepping on the brakes.:tiphat:Stalled my car out once trying to drive with the parking brake one.

If you have a 302 and cannot burn rubber without using the brake pedal, its time for a proper tune up ;)

even with 2.79 in my 73 factory four door and my mother in laws 76 granada 302 2V i could spin tires without the brakes from a stop. and that granada was pretty gutless for a 302....

Might be a long shot here, but you might have a small vacuum leak somewhere. When you step of the gas your vacuum is going down already.
Add to the fact that you have power brakes that use 17"s to operate....

Can you get a vacuum reading at idle?

    Whats your timing set at?

also what are the specs on the engine? miles?

    for the engine:
replace cap\rotor\plugs\plug wires\fuel filter\Oil\Oil filter.Check coolant level and cleanness. check trans fluid level and cleanness. check vacuum lines and replace any cracked, leaky, missing ones. make sure your carb assembly isnt leaking liquid. check for exhaust or intake leaks at the motor. pull out your timing light and vacuum gauge and dial in the timing and fuel mixture according to the process in your Chilton's. this eliminates a lot of trouble shooting you will have to do if the problem is something more.
