OK, this is going to sound like a dumb question, but as I posted yesterday I am wanting a Maverick and may have found one. My wife and I are supposed to be going to look at it next weekend. So I was talking to her about the car and she asked are you going to fit? See I'm 6'3 265lbs and have a hard time with leg room in a lot of older cars. I have trouble driving my father in laws 66 mustang ( I can't even get under the wheel of his model A.) Well I just looked at her kind of dumb. I hadn't even thought about it. I drove a friend of mine Stallion 25 years ago and don't remember having any problems but I was alot smaller then and like I said it was 25 years ago. The car is a 71 with a manual and a bench seat. So like I said will I fit, or a better question would be what kind of leg room, head room does a Maverick have? If you all could help me out, it may save me a 12 hour car trip for nothing. Thanks

Being that tall may great a problem, but don't let that stop you from getting a car. Yes this is a small car and you can modify the seat so it will fit your legs. You may want to convert it to bucket seats so you can move your seat farther back. You just have to have someone make you brackets for the seat rail. That's my oppinnion only. The other thing is to find a full size Gallixie or Torino. I would modify a Maverick or Comet instead!:thumbs2::thumbs2:

My Dad had a 70 cobra. Thanks for the input and know it won't stop me from buying a car but it may stop me from this car. Like you said I could change to buckets maybe tilt steering but that's a lot of money on top of the price of the car. When I believe I could find something with buckets for the same price just as nice. What I need to do is find one closer to me than 6 hours (one way) and drive it. I just haven't been able to find anything near Richmond Va, Thanks again.

I'm 6'3 325 in my 4 door ldo I have plenty of room. My buddie is 6'3 420+ and fits in his sprint preety well. He moved his shifter on his t5 around to give him a little more leg room. So I don't see where you would ANY issues!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    Im 5'11" and 210

and i barely had leg room :hmmm: (with the stock bench seat)

but when i swapped in new seats i just set them about 1.5" back
and 2" lower, and now i fit perfectly :drive:

    Love my tempo seats!

It's so easy to modify the things in these cars, i dont think you'll have a problem.

Im 6' 5" nearly 300 lbs. But my seats are far from stock. They are low back buckets from a 64 Mustang and I actually had to scoot them closer to the steering wheel to reach the pedals. Also, I have a Grant steering wheel. I sit really low in the car and I look good doing.

These cars have considerably more room then a mid 60's Mustang. I'm only 5'8 and even I feel cramped sitting in my uncle's '66 fastback.
