I would say the satisfaction in this case is getting it fixed. I agree that DIY is satisfying but this kind of repair can be fustrating UNLESS the bolts come right off. Not everyone has a torch or studds if they break or are damaged. THEN hopefuly the parts guy sold you the correct gaskett.

Yeah I don't have a torch, I used brute strength to get the closest one off, but the one closer to the windshield refuses.

Hmmm.. if your half way there then soak it and try again. If it breaks at least you have the one you can put back and get it to the shop...I guess.

Idk what Pen oil is, but I just used a crescent and got one halfway before I died of exhaustion, the other won't even break at all. I'm going to get some nut-breaker stuff that you spray on nuts I don't remember what it's called from my girlfriends mom maybe that will work... I sure hope so, and now I'm struck with my reverse lights not working and I don't have a fuse tester, so that's great.

WD40, spray the studs and let them soak.
One thing I learned when I was young, and started working on cars was, I hate exhaust, whatever its costs, take it to a shop, then it'll be done.
As for the reverse lights, have you been playing with the radio wiring?

Yes I have played with the radio wiring a little, I haven't disconnected anything I never had a stock radio, had a cd player in there at one time but gave it to somebody. How much do the testers usually cost? I'm only 19 I don't really have a clue what I'm doing, so I need to get some penetrating oil now and a tester. I swear it's one thing after another. :(

I bought a tester at Wal Mart for $3 if I remember right. It was a 6 and 12 volt tester. I once made one using the interior light lol.

you can pick one up at autozone for about $5.00 same place you get pen oil. do you have access to tools? compresser, as if your going to be doing this as diy, you can get by, but your going to need some basic's. is there a harborfrieght in stevenville. i worked at chapporal steel when i was 16.

I don't think so, or atleast I've never noticed one and I've lived here all my life. And I found a tester made from an interior light in my trunk but it doesn't work, probably too rusty it has been there since I got the car. Yes I have tools, but not a compressor or anything fancy just basic tools.

well you have a good foundation to start with. im sure there is some kind of auto parts store(checker, oriely, kraggen, pep boys, billy bobs) what ever, be cool to them they will get to know you and can be very helpful and if any have a frequent flyer card, take advantage. save money where you can.

If anyone has hacked into the factory wiring, the reverse lights are fed off the radio light circuit.

I just needed to break some nuts loose on my Mustang GT. I used PB Blaster. Let it soak for a few hours and then they came off. :)
