Hey everyone! I own a 1970 maverick and I'm considering swapping the 200 i6 for a 302, but I know very little about the process and requirements. Can anyone help me out? Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated!

    welcome to the site

No worries on the swap. Do your research ask these guys plenty of questions. I am putting a 5.0 efi in my baby. Went in with very little frustration. Good luck.

The only thing trickier about a 70 vs later years is that the trans tunnel is a bit smaller. A C4 auto fits, and I believe most manuals do, but there is a bit less room to work with.

The transmission crossmember, in that small tunnel, only has the holes drilled to mount a 6 cyl crossmember, as no V8 was offered in 70. I believe you can still install the double hump V8 crossmember by simply drilling another hole in the framework to match.
