Hey everyone! I own a 1970 maverick and I'm considering swapping the 200 i6 for a 302, but I know very little about the process and requirements. Can anyone help me out? Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated!
to the site..... Look in the classifieds section, I think there are a couple complete motor mount, frame mount, trans crossmember and belly bar set ups for sale right now.....
welcome to the site No worries on the swap. Do your research ask these guys plenty of questions. I am putting a 5.0 efi in my baby. Went in with very little frustration. Good luck.
The only thing trickier about a 70 vs later years is that the trans tunnel is a bit smaller. A C4 auto fits, and I believe most manuals do, but there is a bit less room to work with.
The transmission crossmember, in that small tunnel, only has the holes drilled to mount a 6 cyl crossmember, as no V8 was offered in 70. I believe you can still install the double hump V8 crossmember by simply drilling another hole in the framework to match. Also to the board from Northeast Pennsylvania Where are you from?
OK!!!! hold ON!!! What if your a teenager like myself and your dad wolnt let you have a 302. in your car (fuel=$ with an 8 too) -_- BUT>>>> he says you can have the car if you can get a 6 cylinder for it,,,, What would i have to do to swap a v8 out for a Ford 200???? mounts?? Does it matter what kind of tranny it has???? Im pretty shure its got a 4 speed manual...... Ill check later today
