I have a complete set of original Ford 1972 "Grabber" stripes, gold color (Includes the hood decals) for a 1972 Maverick--still in the original boxes. I purchased them probably 16 yrs ago to use as templates to have new ones made in another color thinking I would fix up one (or both) of the Grabbers that I have had in storage for over 20 yrs.

I have slowly come to the realization that I will probably never get around to fixing either of them up so I have been relectantly divesting myself of the many Maverick Grabber parts I have accumulated over the years (Coop /Mercurycruizers got a very good deal on 7 Maverick slotted mags I sold him a few weeks ago)

Now that non-OEM Grabber stripes can be purchased, was wondering if members on this board thought there was any value in keeping these stripes so they could be scanned/digitized? Is there any value in having a stripe kit that can be scanned to reflect the original stripe and lettering dimensions? Or should I just toss them? [They are too old to use]

The stripes are already being reproduced by several companies. I see no value in keeping them if they are too old to use.

But then again.....I keep EVERYTHING, so what do I know. :D

Don't toss them, they could be used for a color reference., or someone could stick them on their wall (if they would still stick)

Do not throw them away, like mentioned they can be used as a color referance, a restoration was done on a green grabber with lime stripes.... And company who did his stripes were way to bright.....having nos correct parts , like your stripes should never be tossed....especially because the sun hasnt faded them, so you know the exact original color that they were when new!!

I think it would be pretty difficult to get dimensions on Grabber stripes since they go up over the wheel wells. The width and length would not be a problem but you're not gonna get the curves right unless you have more stripes to go by.

true but if i can get the width before the curve and at the middle of the curve i'm sure i can adjust until i get the right degree on the bend

    .. trial and error ..
