Does flat black look bad on anything? Only thing better is flat black and flames. Wife wanted to paint the kitchen and asked me...flat black and flames.

i personaly dont like an all black hood on a car with a gloss paint job. i do like a flat black stripe on a painted hood. either grabber style or shelby style. now my hood is all flat black but so is the rest of my car.

I'm not big on a flat black hood on Mavs unless of course like Bryant the car is black.

I do like the center section of the stock hood flat black though. I think about doing mine. Maybe I'll photoshop it to see how it looks.

    Yeah, I like them ....

Mine is black because the original hood on my car was starting to rust a little, and I found a cherry replacement hood. This one was green, but the wrong shade. I also painted the cowl because the paint was peeling, so, surrounded by green fenders all the way back to the windshield, I like how it looks.

Given the choice, the edges of the hood would still match the body color, and the black would be a panel or wide stripes surrounded by a pinstripe.

BTW ... I used semi-flat. It seems to live a little longer. Pure flat black has a tendency to get messed up a bit easier in my experience. I have seen gloss black shot and then clear-coated with a flattener added to the clear, and IIRC, that can be waxed with no problem.

This is a 10 year old pic ... My hood needs to be painted again for the third or fourth time now ... originally did it in about 1994 ...

There is a 'Black Hood Society' here somewhere.....

I painted my car a chevy color and the hood is mopar rallye matte black.
I tell people it's a Maverick with an identity crisis.

I like that look. I think it really depends on the color and finish of the car.

I never really cared for the whole hood being black. To me it makes it look like the car doesn't have the right hoos on it. Or like someone hasn't painted it yet.

I do like the center of it black, or flat black though.

The 70 type NW torino I had in 70 had a black hood but only part of the mav hood is semi-gloss black. :drive: For some strange reason I can't insert any picture.???? You can see it on my images.
