I have now decided that my son really wants a Maverick for his first car. He has now taken my phone and added an app that constantly checks the craigslist ads for any Mavericks up for sale.

Wish me luck, we are going to Knoxville to look at a red and black 1970 Maverick (6 cylinder - no engine size noted in ad) and a yellow and black 1974 Maverick (250 ci - small bumper conversion). Neither is a grabber like he wants, but they do look nice in the pictures.

Any advice on what to pay attention to when looking at these cars?

My first car was a maverick and ive been in love with them ever since. Front torque box area and floor pans are definite places to look.

Definitely pour some water down the cowls before you commit to buying. Good luck. Hope you find a nice one.:)
