I think he will be waiting a long time to get that money for a race only car. Unless it has BIG NAME engine builder and chassis builder with receipts he will never get that money.
I don't think he's asking too much. Also says best offer and he can still come down. Hard to start low and then go higher. Unless he did all the work himself I'd bet he has a lot more than that into it.
It is worth what he is asking....a low 9 sec car that looks that good to boot!!! Kaase heads are prolly 5k by themselves!!! I would offer 20k and see if he bites and work from there.... I offered a 100.00 just to be silly
That is a killer deal and I bet it sells. That would not be an unreasonable amount to ask if it did not include the motor.
Looking at the chassis, that car can be probably be certified to run faster than 8.5 sec in the 1/4. Has a funny car type driver cage. It is well worth 25 grand if it is as good as it looks. I'd buy it for that if I had the coin.
x2 just the drive train is 15.000.00 to purchase ,,then the car and chass. work wheels ,tires and how can get a paint job for less then 3000.00 way over 25.000.00 to build thats you doing a lot of the work your self
It would take more than what he is asking to build a similar car. The problem is that race cars, without an exceptional history, do not sell for what it costs to build one. No racer wants to buy a car that is an unknown. Just try to sell a high performance engine and sell it for what you have in it. If it had a history of national championships and speed records then it would have value on the market but as a complete unknown it is a gamble - is the chassis welded together properly? Is the engine in good condition? Is the transmission functional? How many runs does it have on it - and how many are left on it? Is it even competetive in its class? I agree that there is a lot of money in the car but that has little to do with what it is worth on the open market. It might be a good introduction car or it might be a mess that was patched together after a crash. Without knowing anything more about it than what is in the ad there is no way to know what you are buying.
This is not a "class racing" car, it's a bracket, 8.90, or 9.90 car, so race history is meaningless. Also the chassis has been 2010 NHRA certified (I contacted the seller)to 8.50, so I am betting the welding is OK.
