Dad bought this car in 1970 wrecked. It had been rear ended pretty hard and he had just sold his 64 Mercury Cyclone so the plan was to build this car as his next drag car. Just as he got the bodywork done, he desided that he needed a daily driver so he installed a 6 cylinder instead of the Boss 302 and 4 speed as he originally planned. It was the car I grew up in and I still remember how cramped the back seat was. I also remember the plaid interior very well. Dad was into street rods so we drove this car all over the country to NSRA events. In the early 80s the paint had started to faded so he had it resprayed in a little darker shade of Dupont Imron and he added the Speed wheel Indy 500s. Shortly after that he sold the car. A couple years later my great grandmother gave me the Maverick I have now....but this car is the one that started my interest in Mavericks.
Cool car. Reminds me of this one. I have 2 of these ornaments the detail is pretty good. http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-COCA-COLA-...90205160934?pt=Diecast_Vehicles#ht_500wt_1154
I'm a big fan of late 70s and early 80s Ford trucks also...just look at all of those trucks in that last pic. If I only had a time machine!
