Wondered when someone would get around to telling him about tightening the band adjuster so the strut won't fall into the case and then that results in a lot more work inside the trans. Sometimes your transmission arts supply stores: stock just the gasket kits or seal kits for these c4's. Also can check online too. A complete rebuild kit can be bought at TPS(transmission parts supply) here in Arkansas for 55.00. Then you will have one on hand for use if needed. JMO.
Be careful if you order that Napa part, it specs out as the correct one, the online listing shows the right dimensions, but the ring in the box is 4+ inches in diameter (should be ~3.5") Thinking it was a simple mistake, I tracked down another one in town (but 40 miles away) and drove all the way there to find the same as the one I had. Really struggling to find the part now.... The cranking the band down kept everything in place while the piston is out, great tip. Thanks, DaveW
