Ok here's the deal. My wife's 75 250 six cyl. won't stay cranking. I turn the key to start and the starter engages for one crank and stops cranking. But the starter sounds like it 's still spinning. Has the starter took a crap or is it the connections causing a lose in draw amps? Did have time to check the connections before work but will when I get home in the morning. Any suggestions? thanks, Smo
Sounds like the starter drive (commonly called bendix) is going bad. They can easily be replaced if you are mechanically inclined to tackle it. The complete starter may not be that expensive though. I'm not too sure of the price. I build my own starters. Did that for a living many years ago.
Thanks, Ray I am mechanically inclined but don't have time right now it would probably easier for me to just change it. I just thought that it might be the connections. Thanks, Smo
Thanks Maverick 75, Yeah I've investigated the cost already. By the way good year Maverick, My wife and I both have 75's. Thanks, Smo
