I was reading the article in Hot Rod magazine about Hackman's blue maverick. It was a cool read. But it seemed besides the way it looks (which is the standard I'm going to set my car against) the engine could've used some more power. Well, does anyone know if the car has received a upgrade in that department? If so, this car is one of the best cars that I have seen.
oh man.. now i heard it all.... Tom and Tammy Hackman setting the standard on how people are going to set their mavericks against. whats the world comming to? guess i'm gonna have to step it up a bit but donnie, that is a nice car! tom has done some really great work to that car (cough cough did i just say that ) but the car you see in that magazine is no longer because the poor car was totaled! NOTE TO Hackmans: thats why tammy should where a should wear a sholder harness!!!!!! but that car was basicly Tom duped and a clone of it now exists.. i think the motors the same one. remember that things is a driver! Tom?
The month that car was in the mag it was hit at the B pillar, I was driving and nothing happen to me. At the time of the test drive the harmonic balancer had cracked at the key and slipped so the timing was not set right. I also could never get the edelbrock carb to work right, I had just fixed these things when it got hit. We learned another lesson about insurance in California, Anyhow the car was rebuilt adding these parts. 1 New 95 302 with edel heads making 295 RWHP (347@the crank) 2 power window & locks 3 keyless entry 4 remote rear vent windows 5 Mustang II front suspention (from rods & customs) 6 functional air scoops 7 criuse control
That photo still makes me sick But that new one is the coolest Mav I've ever seen. Can't wait to see it finished. Russ
I did not hear about your car I must of been sleeping........Sorry but glad you already got things in order. I love that car and your new one. Kinda inspired me to redo mine a little more retro in a few years.
Thomas what lesson did you learn about insurance in California? Also what did you use for the power window conversion?
OMG! That pic of the best mav i've ever seen made my jaw drop. That really sucks man. But...what are you gonna do know about the car? I still want to have my exterior to look like your car pre crash...the interior I'm going to modernize and add the look of the 69 camaro from the latest hot rod magazine. Man I'm still sorry to hear about the car...its too bad really.
In California and probly many other states, the insured can pick their property damage limits. The person that hit me had $5,000 so that's all I got for the $12,000 worth the damage she did to the car. My fault for not having full coverage, if I would have my insurace would pay the difference. Not very fare sence she was at fault, talking on her cell and running a red light. There were plenty of witnesses and of course it was a conspericy me being white and her being black (no disrespect ment) I had to wait for two months before everything was settled so at the end of March 02 I started rebuilding the car. I worked every night on it because I had told a bunch of poeple that I would be at the round-up. I finished the rebuild a week before we drove it to Indy, it had a total of 500 miles on the car when we left. We had no problems on that trip
They should not allow people to carry a limit that low. The majority of the cars on the road are valued greater than that. I carry higher limits to protect my assets.
hackman-What size wheels do you have on your car and is your front fenders modified to accomodate larger width wheels?
Seeing that the same questions keep coming up, (window mod, functional air scoops, wheel size, fender mods, etc...) I propose we create a new Forum and call it "Thackerize your Mav". lol In it will be all the post ever written by Tom about what he has done to his cars. I was just thinking about the yellow one this morning. (drove my mav to work today so cars are on my mind) Have not seen anything on it in a while.
