hey guys my engine is running great and i have a stead idle no vacuum leaks and been running the same for the past 4000 miles that ive drive her and my idle is right at 900 rpms i have a 302 with a c4 trans and my carb is a 1406 edlebrock . i have the idle screw all the way out and this is the lowest the idle goes. i also have the vacuum advance tube for the distributer. going to the bottom port on the front of the carb. ive seen some pics of edlebrock carbs on stock fords with the vacuum line going to the top port. but i have it plumbed right?

is it possible for me to get a lower idle ill be switching to a t-10 manual 4 speed in a month hopefully is all goes will. and i know that the idle should be down around 600 for a manual with no a/c

    thanks

the vacuum advance hose hooks to the left port on the front of the edelbrock carb not the one on the right

push the carb's throttle tords the front of the car (NOT TO HARD) and hold it there and see if it idle drops if it does put a stronger spring on it to pull it that way:oops:

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
does it still have the stock cam? Some mild cams like to idle a bit higher.

and its a all stock engine minus the intake and carb and i have the timing set at 10 degrees

If you cant get the idle down after the vacuum re route and the primary's are closed, check that the secondary stop isnt opening the back half too far at idle.

the problem with my holley was that the spring wasn't strong enough to close the throttle lever so when I would push it down by hand the idle would drop

Have you adjusted the idle stop screw?
You mension the idle mixture screws but didn't say anything about the idle stop screw. If you can back it out and the idle doesn't drop then You may need to move your cable mount to get the carb to close more.

i adjusted the idle screw on the throttle not the mixture screws on the front of the carb i think i mounted the bracket for the throttle cable the furthest back on the mount cus thats where is was when i took the motor out

i switched the vacuum line and lowered my idle to 800 and pushed forward the throttle and it did nothing but idk how to do the secondaries to see if that will help?
