i think somehow i may have fried my 6al box. just got done wiring everything up. new motor. new ignition parts.. it was a mallory ignition kit from Summit. came with everything. anyways.... engine was firing and starting, it'd run for a few seconds.. i was trying to set timing... then all of a sudden i lost spark.... when i check for power, i have power to the 6al box. but from there i dont have power to the coil... i rechecked wiring a few times and am stumped as to what i could have done wrong .... could it be a faulty box? this is my first experience with this type of ignition setup.... the directions seemed pretty cut and dry..... anyone got any ideas of whats goin on here?

Mag. Pickup, or trigger wire to box? I had an msd that was picking up a feed back from the trigger wire running too close to the alternator, that's where Id check, make shure it didn't rub on something

My Mallory VI has an LED that flashes when it recieves a trigger signal from the distributor. Helps narrow down the problem.

I had an 6AL (MSD 6420) give me spark for about 3 minutes at a time, and would not work again unless I let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then it would fire right back up and die within minutes. I did their spark test after it failed, basically triggering the box with the pickup leads, and it failed their test every time. I doubled checked and triple checked every serviceable connection, ran new grounds, feeds, etc. Ended up replacing the MSD box. Hasn't failed since.

I've been running mine for about 6 or 7 years without problem.
