and see While I do not car for the craig's list Maverick/General Lee, I think that if they had "finished it" and put the flag on the roof, put the pushbar on the front and the alum. turbine style wheels I think it would look good as a General Lee... Maybe even a Grabber hood might help it out a little.
I wouldn't even do that to a Charger. But if I just had to have a General Lee, it would have to be a Charger. Wouldn't try to turn a Focus into K.I.T.T. or make an A-Team van out of a Scion XB. Or this. In my opinion you have to start with the right car if you're gonna make a movie/TV car replica.
I agree with Facelessnumber. I would not even do that to a charger. My older brother had a 69 Charger, this was around 81 so everyone told him he should paint it like the General Lee. He went with Crimson Red Clear coat Metallic. Much better choice. Darn good car as well. Cast iron 318 out of Fury III. That thing was a horse. He ran the snot out of that car and it never gave up. it's all about opinion really. i wanna try the paint job anyway and see how it turns out. i'm not trying to replicate the general lee itself. i just like the paint job. i think the main reason the craigslist one doesn't look good is, as said above, it's unfinished. i also find the "01" too small on the craigslist one. that's just my opinion though. and also remember mine would look a bit different being that it's a 4-door.
To me...it's a whole "maker" thing...(GM Ford Plymouth...). You can't have a 76 Mustang fixed up like a Bandit car. No Pinto like the car in Vanishing Point. And for sure no Starsky & Hutch AMC Pacer! A Bullitt Maverick would work as would and Eleanor Maverick. Heck I guess a Starsky & Hutch Maverick (73'ish) might even sort of work...but a General Lee?
Ok...you gotta warn people. When I clicked that link and saw the taillamps...I squirted Coke out of my nose.
I dont think its politically correct to put a Confederate flag on a car now. You may offend someone. Ah crap thats all the more reason to do it.
