ok i got a b&m shifter and i need to install the neutral safety switch and back up light switch and i was wondering where are the stock ones located how do i get to them what do i need to wire up the b&m hammer shifter ones
142 results when you search "neutral safety switch" That's what it's for, every question anyone could ask has already been answered. If your car is column shift, it's at the bottom of the column.
a column shift has the reverse lights at the base of the column. it mechanicaly locks out the nutrual safty feature. you need to goto the ignition swith wireing and find the wire that goes to the starter solinoid. snip it and splice in wires going to the new shifters switch.
You don't need to take the cover off, it's at the bottom of the column just past where it bolts to the dash, it's a black banana shaped thing.
do i need t take off the plastic cover at the bottom of the dash where it bolts to the dash and that metal cover under that
ok i have 2 questions i cant see it so would a 1973 have the backup light switch down there also where is the neutral safety switch it is a original on the column car
Yes, I have 2, 73's, and they are both the same switch (backup & neutral). Open the drivers door, get down on your knees, look at the steering column where it goes under the dash, right at the end of the corrugated (collapasible) section, you'll find it on the top of the column.
ok thank you i located it but how do i wire it to my b&m neutral safety and reverse lights switches up i have a hammer shifter
