Hmm didnt see you up at Peach days last saturday I figured you got lost. Oh and you have one of the best looking big bumper cars in this area
Mark between replacing old parts on the Mav & heart problems I've only made it to one car show and that was the 309th's at our local AFB at lunch time. And although I've only met you and your wife once yours was one of the 10 names I've thought of. I havent made the list yet of the 10 names but I think you would take good care of it. If I ever find the time to get around to writing a will and the list I'll consider adding you too Bart.
I was glad to see a picture of your back bumper looking down. I was very interested to see how you painted the part that connects the bumper to the rear. I see you painted it red like the rest of the car? Matt is thinking of keeping his big bumpers but wants to paint the back panel black like you. Also is the stripe a custom graphic?
Bart please do, and I'll do like wise I met to go to a few cars shows in SLC this summer but its been a hard year health wise. And a friend and I made the time to replace some parts.
yeah that stripe is painted on it looks really good on his car. John has an all around clean car that has had allot of thought put into it.
I don't give a rodents anus what other people think of my cars. If I did I'd be driving said Camaros/ Mustangs. If/when I do go to a show, I'm usually attracted to the weird, offbeat cars anyway. Walk past the cookie cutter catalog built Mustangs and tri-5 Chevies to check out a '58-59 Bel Air. Or the little '63 Fairlane wagon. Or the '61 Plymouth Fury. Or some old Maverick...
Exactly the same with me. I don't even notice most Mustangs, Camaros, or 55-57 Chevies anymore, or Lord knows the fiberglass '32 Fords, candy-painted bagged pickups and late model stuff. Those just blur into the background. I will give a passing second glance to the Mopars, Chevelles and Novas. I will linger a little longer around the Olds, Pontiacs, Mercs and Buicks... But what really gets my attention is the weird stuff. A V8 Datsun Z, a well-executed rat rod, Corvair, AMC Eagle, (AMC anything, really) Vista Cruiser, Falcon, Maverick. It really depends on why a person is there as to whether or not they'll like your car. Some people go to a cruise-in to marvel at the amount of money somebody can put into a vehicle, and they'll pour admiration on the owner of it even if he knows nothing about it and didn't lift a finger to build it. Some people go to look at paint. A car is a POS if it doesn't have immaculate paint, and the rest of the car is irrelevant. Some people only care about stereos. Some people like fast cars, show cars, bagged pickups, imports. And then there's people like me. I don't know what I'm there to see until I see it.
What do you think? Sorry guys I figured out how to post the pictures again but it looks like this post got split in two. Could one of our administers please combine the two the other post has the pictures.
I think the big bumpers look great and right at home on your car. I also love the stripe. I am the same way at car shows. I look for the unusual and don't even stop and look at a Mustang unless it has a stock 427 in it or a stock Boss 429 I love 64,65 Falcons and will look at one all day. I bought a 64 Sprint several years ago. My birth year. I really wanted to fix it up but had to sell it. I'll always regret that. House payments are more important though. I love looking at cars like a 69 LTD with a Stock 429 and 4 speed with dog dish hubcaps. lol A real white lightening car. I love sleepers. clint
Thanks! Can anyone tell me what the color of my car is? I tell people who ask I thought it was standard 70's Ford Red but everyone tells me it's not quite red, it looks like there's some Orange in it. The photo's at the begining of this post pretty much capture the color.
Yes and no I gotta pull the transmission back out, its not shifting into second gear right high rpm shifts and its either really hard or acts like it is slipping. I had it up and driving for a while till it started acting up on me. I started working on it but they put me on 60 hour weeks at work and I dont have much time to pull the lint out of my belly button much less pull the tranny out of the car.
