I'm with Clint on this one, no way I'd leave my car with movie people and then go back and get it. It's just another piece of the set to them, if it gets trashed, get another one, keep the film rolling. Look at all the cars they have destroyed just to make a movie or TV show. Looked around for a clean used 69-70 Dodge Charger lately? Now if they are still being built, say Mustang GT's or Challenger's, it's not as bad to me. But to take any older no longer in production car and let it get trashed for a movie pi$$es me off.
I talked to an elderly gent one time at a show who had a mint, unrestored 55 Ford that was used in a movie. He was there every day to make sure no damage was done to his car. He wouldn't even let the actors drive it. He did all the driving and it was filmed so you couldn't see who was driving so he said. I can't swear by that, but that's the story he gave me.

The damage to your car is yet another fact that goes to prove that the "Fast and Furious" movies are being made by Hollywood idiots that have no real connection with car culture.

Not only were the initial previews of the first movie so horrible that I never really wanted to see the movie (and of course, I do have a real anti-tuner car bias anyway), but there were so many automotive inaccuracies cited in Car Craft that were quotes from the movie, that it sealed the deal as far as me never wasting one minute of my life watching any of them.

The quotes were hysterical ... the one that sticks in my mind the most ... "yeah ... my dad was a racer .... died in Turn 2 in a Pro Stock race ..." Vin Diesel (likely paraphrased a bit ...) :rofl2:

I have been involved in several movies, and typically, if your car is used in a movie, you are driving it under the guidance of a production coordinator. You are responsible for it at all times while filming, and any stunt work is handled by pros. You usually are not close enough for any real danger, so don't let this bad experience sour you on getting your car in a film ... just be cautious and aware of what you may be getting yourself into.

when dose it come out? im going to see if me and two of the owners in my town can meet up and drive our mavericks to the movie. it would be super cool if people would recognize the mav in the movie and walk out and have 3 of them staring them in the face after the movie lol
