Well lets see, I love the body style of the Maverick,, But I do like how a 93 T-bird handles with that smooth ride and the sweet steering and how it handles in a road race. So I am going to install the front frame and suspension along with the independant rear suspencion from a 93 T-bird along with an AOD trans and a 331 Stroker in this Maverick I picked up, The Maverick frame is shot but the body is very sweet,, So I wonder how this combination is going to work out,, and while I am at it I think some power windows and powers seats would be a good addition as well . So what do some of you think of this wild brain storm,,? Joe
If your going to go the MN12 route i would use a Mark VIII rear. The whole assembly is much lighter than the Tbirds, and they have better gears. My day driver is a 95 LX, it rides like a dream The steering is okay but nothing to brag about.
Its pretty wide....I looked at using a t-bird or Mark 8 IRS already it can be done but it aint gonna be easy......It adds a ton of weight despite the all aluminum center section on some models!!!The SN95 mustang stiff with a Mark 8 center section would work best imo
Power window option Hi Joe: You'll like the power windows ! I've installed them in two Comets and I don't know why I waited so long. They're great. Cometized
Sounds like the basis for a great project. I would like to go struts with a rack but that will wait. What did you use for the power windows? I have been looking at the options but not sure which way I'll go yet.
I think I am going to use 89 to 95 Cougar or T-bird power window regulater,, Ford usually has the same patern to mount them.. use the plasma cutter on the door and the A piller and install the flexable rubber boot from the Cougar T-bird for my door wirering,, Might just toss in some pwer locks,,
Well of course, a guy can't have power windows without locks! I was figuring on using regulators out of a newer car too, just wasn't sure which car yet.
I have power windows in mine Thack did the mod on the stock regulators for me using taurus motors. Jay
I know a guy who did the exact same thing with a '65 Mustang convertible, using a '93 super coupe as the donor.
