We were taking the Mav out last night for her weekly trip around the block. I notice something on the dome light - a little piece of fluff or something. I reached up to brush it away and bam, the dome light cover shattered into pieces. What do you expect from 34 year old plastic. Oh well, checked RockAuto this morning, looks like a new one will set me back a total of $5 (including shipping)
Mine too Mine crumbled into many pieces when I tried to remove it. I also replaced the base which had no chrome left. Shiny new base wasn't expensive either.
Autokrafters, I think. Had it for a while. http://www.autokrafters.com/v4/go.g...products&show_product_id=851254&product=29491
same thing happened to me when i removed my old seats except the pieces went down my shirt and all over my car. even after a thorough vacuuming i still find pieces in the back seat.
lol - no worries. Actually happens all the time. When you subscribe to car magazines and have an ambiguous name, you tend to get offers to subscribe to other (clears throat) "gentlemen's magazines."
You can get a replacement lens from the HELP section at Advance Auto Parts, and it even comes packaged with a 70's GM lens to boot. I guess they made a bunch of them and need to clear them out. Those lense get baked by the bulb if you leave the door open for extended periods of times, like working on the car for a long time. Might be a good time to get an LED replacement bulb, too. Brighter and runs cool. Probably outlive the car, too.
yeah when i got my comet the lens had a hole right in the middle of it. was at auto zone one day and they had new ones right on there shelf in the back. walked back picked one up and paid like 5 bucks for it.
