Here we go: I'm not getting any fire. Engine turns but no spark.

I tried starting it this morning (sep 28) with no luck, so then I replaced the distributor cap, the spark cables, the spark plugs, replaced the battery and still no magic. I've been told that its the points and spacing or something to that affect. So here I am at a crossroads: Take it in to the shop and pay money that I don't have or get some help from you guys and gals :)

    If the points need adjusted...http://autorepair.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/aa052502a_2.htm

You can try and see if you can 'Hot Wire' the ignition to see if the ignition switch is bad by running a wire from the battery + to the coil + then try starting with the key. If this fix the problem then you know it's either the solenoid or the switch itself. Don’t run the engine too long when it is hot wired or it will burn up the coil.

When you turn the key does it sound like it's starting til you release the key? If so it's the ignition switch. I just replaced mine, takes 30 minutes but you gotta rent a lock plate remover from an auto parts place.
