Help! dropped a nut down the intake of a 250 six

    Hello guys,

    When I was taking off the carb nut afterI cut of the studs and it fell down the intake of a 250 six. Is there anything I can do short of taking the head off? Thanks in advance!

    you might be able to use some sort of magnet to try and fish it out thats what i would try.

    I tried that, but with a cast iron manifold and head...it's kind of hard...

    might want to pull the exhaust manifold and see if you can make it thur the exhaust?

    Flexible magnet or magnet on a string is going to be your only option other than removing the head.

    home depot has a magnet on a bendable pice of metal. its easy to shape and make go around bends. it has saved me countless times.

    the shop vac is your friend. Use some duct tape and tape some fuel line to it if you need to get deeper into an intake runner. Many uses for a shop vac.

    only one problem with that idea NO $$ for a V8 swap!! let alone the V8

    The shop vac idea should at least move it to a place where you get to it easier. If not try and find/borrow a scope to look inside of the intake. They work great. Milwalkee (sp?) sells one at Home Depot. Go buy it, use it without damage and then take it back when you're done. The key is no damage or proof that it has been used.

    Or put a bunch of duct tape on a mouse and let him run around in the intake for a bit. ;)
