After d'in around with my car for 3 months, I have decided to go for broke. I am dropping it off at a body shop and having it redone and painted over our winter months, probably 4. Its gonna take all I had budgeted for the cars interior, and exterior. I will have to put off suspension and interior for a while to compensate. They are going to do it on "time and material" for body work. He said it was hard to give an exact price because it is hard to see what is under the mud on the rockers and drivers side rear quarter. The owner comes highly recommended by a mutual friend, and has done body work fro several people I work with. I will be doing some of the very minor prep like removing the bumpers, stripping the interior, removing lights, and trim to save on a little cost. Just a little nervous, cuz its a lot of money. Oh and I am going purple.
Just kinda talking to myself here so bear with me... After mulling it over, I think putting it in the shop for body work and paint is the right call. However, I think it is to early. It just seems so final step. I have a few other things to do first. Like interior and such. I am leaning toward having it put in the shop next fall.
The last thing you want is a nice interior in a car going to the body shop. No matter what you do the interior will get full of dust. I'll see if I can find a pic of mine to give you an idea. I left in the carpet and front seat since I had to move the car around a lot. It took a lot of cleaning before it went into the booth for paint. Even though its all taped up for paint you still want to minimize the dust as much as possible. I wouldnt suggest doing the interior first. Your better to pull all the interior then send it to the body shop.
Yes it is!!! What color is that? Where in the heck did you get those valve covers!?!?! Love the color of those.
. the car colour is supposed to be the mopar metalic plum krazy . as for the valve covers, they were some old semi rusty cheap chrome ones, that i steel wooled and cleaned up , then got some dupli colour metal cast purple paint in a spray can at auto zone for $4.99 and painted them. no primer i tryed em with primer and they turned out too lite , at least for me. it wasnt hard to do at all. the chrome is what makes em look anodized
