I found out a cheap way to get a serpentine set up, some of you might have already done it. You should be able to get these parts fairly cheap. All you need is the pulleys and the stock alternator bracket for a 5.0 mustang.

I had to use the 6pk1105 belt.

All you have to do is reverse the belt tensioner which is in the link below. These are not my personal photos but it took me about 10 min do it. Remove the cap and drill the new hole 180 degrees from the pin.

I believe you'll need to change the water pump to a reverse rotation pump

Will this work on my '74 302? Are the part #'s available? I'd love to do this in conjunction with an electric fan swap.

Check the pictures real close ,the water pump is running normal rotation. Nicely done.

my only concern, it looks like your running the grooved side of the belt on a flat pully.

ITs running reverse rotation(late model) and it looks like the tensioner is running a flat pulley on the grooved side of the belt. Is that correct??

Easier way is to get a grooved serpentine water pump pulley from a late-80s Crown Vic, no need for a tensioner and keep the standard rotation water pump.
    Or use one of these

This pulley is actually cheaper if ordered directly from Auto Specialties rather than Summit.

Pump is reverse rotation, when i bought my roller shortblock it came with an edelbrock pump. Instead of getting rid of the pump and investing with into a standard pump I just bought the alternator bracket w/ tensioner. I guess alot of the 5.0 guys run this setup when they remove the a/c, smog and p/s. I also put my 3g alt at the same time so i didnt have to remove my alt pulley. Like the first post states these are not my pics, i'm just showing how the belt is being routing

the only downfall to me is the fact that this setup has a full time tensioner versus the older "lock and clamp" style adjustment on the alt bracket

How would it work and look (pic) running AC and no PS?

Your lucky the belt doesn't slip on the water pump under high load. I thought the rule of thumb was to have at least half the rotating body covered by the belt. From the pictures it appears only about 1/3 of the belt is making contact?
