Just picked up a 71 comet and was wondering what the easiest way to convert to disk brakes in the front is. Is it parts that i can go a local parts store and pick up or am i gonna have to have parts off another car? Any help would be great. Thanks. Also, that average cost of this conversion.

When i swapped my 70' Maverick to discs I found another maverick in the salvage yard and popped out the whole set-up from the ball-joints. it will be less expensive if you can find somebody parting out a car that is interchangeable with your comet preferably another comet or maverick, i think granadas and mustangs will work but do some research before you got through all the work. Check out the tech article on this site also -

Everything except the steering knuckles can be bought new; tie rod ends, calipers, pads, rotors, dust shields, hoses, MC, etc. I bought a used setup from a '76. The knuckles, dust shields and rotors were good, bought loaded calipers, seals, bearings, hoses, outer tie rod ends and MC. Probably had a total of $250-$300 invested.
