im still workin the buggs out of this maverick project! i had problems getting fire to start and seee if thi sengine is even a good one or not,i have a used mallory unilite distributor that i purchased on ebay well i did the proper test to see if the module was bad ,it failed the test so i order a new E-spark module installed it and still getting no fire to the plugs .I have a mallory ballast resistor in place and im weary of the coil i purchased.its the JEgs brand coil ,very cheap priced and when i recieved it i noticed it was made in china .could this china made coil be bad .ive unplugged the wire going to the distributor from the coil and turn it over no fire,i took a spark plug out and layed it against metal with the wire attached and no fire .im thinking i should have gotten a mallory coil

Do you have the proper voltage going to the coil?

if you have a test light you can hook it up to the positive of the battery and touch it to the negitive wire on the coil. when cranking it should flash. if it flashes the distrubtor is good and the coil should be your problem. no flashing then the unilite or the wiring is bad.

put the ground clip on the neg post on the coil and stick the tip to the postive side of the batery. then try cranking the motor. the light should flash.

will the engine spin over with the starter?
if so, run a jumper wire from the batt. plus side to the coil. spin the engine with the coil wire unpluged from the dist.
ground the coil wire to see if you have spark.

ok now im very frustrated!! ive done both test u guys have told me to try .the on with the test light hooked to the negative side of the coil and postive battery side .turn engine over and light flashes so now im thinking good my distributor is good and the coil must be bad ,but i wanted to try the other test jumper wire from battery to plus side of coil the coil wire has plenty of fire so now im thinking my coil is fine what gives !!!
i have a question ok here goes when i check the switch wire running to my resistor or even the coil wires the light will only light up with the unilite rotor button removed once i place it back on the check light goes off .Do i still have fire is this normal or not normal
