I know this figure will probably fluctuate depending on the condition of the hood, but I'm looking for a ballpark figure on the value of a clean steel Grabber hood with no rust or major collision damage. I have a buddy that wants to find one for his 71 Maverick, but he isn't sure what would be a fair price to pay for one in decent shape. He doesn't have the skills to do major rust repairs, so it would have to be fairly clean. I know these are hard to find, so I've already set his expectations on the time it might take to even find one in the condition he wants.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

"Fair" price for clean steel right now seems to be $300 - $400

I would say closer to $600 for a real nice, rust free one.

I have watched a few sell on ebay in the $500-$600 range. I'm never sure if that is a good place to base prices on.

I would love to hear what other members have paid for their hoods (if your comfortable revealing that info)

    Thanks

I got mine off e-bay from montana for 250.00 + shipping 48.00 in 2004. is was skipped over by many because someone drilled a hole for a hood pin lock, not bad really. nice peice minimal surface rust and no other damage.

Guess I got somewhat lucky with my hood. Bought it from a guy in Denver after seeing it on Craigslist. $150!!!! Man, I was thrilled to even find a grabber hood, much less for 150 bucks, kept telling the wife.."I got a grabber hood!!!" all more_mav_pics_10-09_019_original.jpg the way home that night. Got it home and soon discovered the front lip was rusted, couldnt see it when I bought it cause of the molding. Big deal, a very easy fix!!

One problem with fiberglass is you cant screw on the hood lip molding. Not sure about the carbon fiber one but I'd bet its to thick also.

Like I was saying----all sorts of stuff out there that's fair condition for a fair price. Mint condition, sure-- probably worth more than 500. Not that many of those though.

I found 2 Grabber hoods in the junkyards one cost $35 and the other was $45 for the other. Both has rust issues but nothing too serious.
