that is wrong. the red wire to the mallory need to be on the other side of the resistor. its not susposed to get full voltage. the coil should be able to get full voltage.

but the mallory wiring diagram shows the red wire hooked 2 the saame side as the switch wire !i will double check even though
i have a trunk mounted battery so the battery ground is connected to the rear frame rail, i have a ground wire going from my fire wall to a bolt on the back side of the aluminum intake manifold thats all the grounds i have .Do i need a block to frame rail cable ground as well? The starter turns over well so i just assumed i had everything grounded but what do i know..lol

your grounds sound good to me.
    looking at these instructions http://www.malloryperformance.com/pdf/1214M.pdf
i see that you are right. but if you look at the instructions further down the page they do show different ways to wire it that does have the unilite after the distrubtor. i used to work at a shop that sold mallory products and i saw alot of moduel fail. if you wired it up after the resistor they have some protection against voltage spikes.
does the coil your using require the ballast resistor. if not then it probly wont work with that distrubtor. they say the coil needs the resistor or the moduel can be damaged.

i have a jegs brand canister coil rated up to 45,000 volts and its a universal coil ,it doesnt say anywhere on the coil or box whether it needs a resistor or not ,i havne thad a chance to tinker with it anymore ,i may try wiring different the way you told me and see what happens thanx thanx again be patience with me i will figure this out

Bryant i called Jegs today and talked to someone about the jegs canister coil, the guy told me the coil will work with the unilite fine . Bryant i wired it like u said hot wire to positive side of coil then a wire from there to the resistor and then the unilite red wire hooked to the other side of the resistor still showing less than 2.00 voltage at the coil same as before:hmmm:but again thanx for all ur input:Handshake

what is the voltage on the power wire going to the resistor?

you mean the switched hot wire when its attached to the resistor?

i think ill unhook the switch wire and check it with the voltage meter to see what the volts are with it like that attached to nothing .Be interesting to see .ill do that tommorrow

ok i went out to the maverick today and i unhoked the switch hot wire and touched it with the test light ,it lite up very bright and strong so i then used the voltage meter and it shows 11.05 volts but if hooked up to the coil or resistor it shows something like 1.45 volts Bryant what does this mean??
