So I had a stock 302 which we really dialed in over time. But we were also building a 331 with AFR heads, roller block and low compression for a blower. Well it's in the car and it's amazing. I drove it for 500 miles and finally floored it and it's amazing!! We put the 600 holley carb with vacuum secondaries on there which is not doing too bad but the throttle sticks and the choke is a little late to come off. I ended up ordering a 650 Holley HP which should be here soon, super excited to test the motor out on 12/4 at fontana. If we have time I'll get some dyno numbers just to see where it's at compared to the old motor.

The 600 Holley isnt enough for the engine when you get the 650 dp you will really notice the difference. Dont you already have a blow through carb for when you install the supercharger ?

Glad you finally got it in and going :thumbs2:

Great news. Be careful till you get used to it. Imagine what it will do with the blower that its built for.

I hope the 650 is enough. I'm running a 750HP on my 308. Will be interesting to see the numbers and what it runs.:)

Good to hear that 650 is better. I bought a carb that's a 650 that has been modified for blow through but I'm a little tired of buying old carbs that I have to mess with. So this new HP should be more tunable, looking forward it.

Don is right you could go with a bigger carb, I run a 650 quick fuel carb that flows more than a 650 Holley and could go to a bigger carb easily but am holding the engine back due to lack of needed safety equipment and for better street manors.

Hows the t5 and clutch holding up for you?

the carb arrived, I got it for $420 from amazon with free shipping. that's a steal because the cheapest I found it anywhere else is $500 with shipping. It's a big expense but I'm hoping it'll be worth it . . .

I got the fuel line in . . . but just waiting for one more part, the hose adapter so I can install the carb. Then it's off to dyno.

I got the new carb installed. Having a little wacky idle problems, maybe a vac leak. After 3-4K rpm it also goes a little lean. We might swap out the fuel pump just in case it's the fuel pump. If it's not that then I'll mess with the jets.

I thought that I was the holley master by now, I've done more carb swaps than I care to share . . . so we had this rough idle with surging which I thought was vac leak. Bryant goes with me on a test drive and says we needs to just richen the idle a little (it wasn't even too lean ~14.5-15 A/F). So we come back, he makes the carb a little richer and purrrrrfect. Man, I would have chased so many other things . . . once again, Bryant, you are the man.

I have an AWESOME idle, really good get up and go from idle . . . love it.

we swaped out the fuel pump today and that took care of the high rpm lean problem. we richened the idle mixture just a little and all is great. going to fontana tomarrow to run mo's car.
