I took some pictures of my holley fuel pump. A while ago I stopped getting fuel to the carb. I thought the fuel pump was bad, changed the fuel pump and realized I was out of tank. So maybe the fuel pump was ok or maybe it overheated. My question is, are these marks normal on the internals of the pump?

Don't know for sure but probably....I'm guessing that rubs slightly against a thrust plate....Lay a piece of 400 grit wet sandpaper on something hard and flat, lubricate with some WD-40 and rub that back and forth while holding it flat

Those marks shouldn't hurt anything..... Just normal wear marks from the pump running.....

    stone

those are normal "wear" marks. BUT not knowing if the parts are surface coated/heat treated or solid high quality steel I would not sand or polish the surfaces. the only detail work I would do is with an ultra fine stone on the corners and just the minimum. I have found out the hard way that some times manufactures only use a surface treatment to harden or provide a wear surface, aprox. .015 or less. When I lapped (with 1500 silicone carbide paper and my favorite lubricant) on a granite plate I removed the surface treatment. Lost an 4K dollar pump that day. Do your self a favor keep it as clean as humanly possible and put it back together it should work fine.

Ok thanks. I'll give it a shot. Put it back together and see how it does.

his from the picture is a gerotor style pump and has no vanes to wear out, efficiency starts to drop as end clearances open up
