I have a chance to get a great deal on a 9" out of a Mustang II. Does anyone know if it will fit? If not, how far off would it be? Thanks!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Mustang IIs never had 9s. Only 7.5 and 8s. The 8 will fit, its just half an inch wider than the maverick one.

Pardon my thread hijacking, but since the orig. question was answered.....

are the mounts/spring perches the same on Mav and M-!! rears?

I'm doing just the opposite, converting my 75 M-II Mach-1 over to 5 lug, and was planning on using a Mav 5-lug 8-in rear to swap into the 'Stang

The easist way to put a 9 under a Maverick (not always the best) is to get a 9 housing and then pull your 8. Take both to a good machine shop and have them cut the tube ends off the 8 inch and weld onto the 9 inch. With both rears there they can make the 9 just like the 8 so it will bolt right back in. Now you can still order brake parts like before but with a 9 under your Mav/Comet and you can still use you old axles.

The gears for a 9 are cheaper, the posi are cheaper and now most everything in your rear is stronger.

    As always just my .02

the 9'' housing that i bought from maverick manic bolts right in and uses your old axle's and breaks so all you need is a 28 spline 9'' thirdmember and your done it's sweet

when i installed the rear end with PIC'S

I went ahead and got the 9". It had aftermarket axles and a Richmond center section with a 4.11. I got it for $200.00. :)

9" from a 50's Ford or Merc sedan is actually 1 narrower than the mav and bolts right in
