i cant wait for a cust to tear one of these up and i get to buy the core!! i swear if it happens ill put one in my spare car:Handshake
Good guess! Had my hands on a 6.1 before that only needed a piston from a srt 300. But that didn't happen
Chrysler dealer same as me. It does have a few perks. Lookin forward to the new Hemis. 8 speed auto available soon.
Nice engine the 5.0 but the Hemi is nice and simple to work on. Almost old school in a way. I'm not a Mopar guy even though I've worked there since 91' but I do like working on the Hemi. Its way more practical as a crate engine for the average car guy. If I had an old Mopar I would without a doubt have a 5.7 Hemi in it. They make upwards of 390 HP out of the junkyard with a carb and intake and good exhaust. Never know maybe I'll stumble on a good Chrysler chassis in the future.
Practicality and any semblance of old school probably aren't high on the list of someone who has decided to use an engine like that. Otherwise they would have just went with a push rod stroker and made the same power for less, and bolted it in instead of torching the front end of their car out.
I would think using a Ford engine would be far more in keeping with the unsaid spirit of souping up old cars. If it was going in a Model A or something really old it would be different than sticking that wild Chrysler mill in a Maverick. I would much rather see that engine installed in a 71 Dodge Demon...
8 speed auto.......? That's way to many gears Anyone out there watch topgear? And they tested a merc I think and. It had 7 gears and it never made up its mind on which gear it wanted to be in But. It would be awesome too have new 5.0 in a maverick
I sure would like that hemi for my 64 Dart that and a K code 289 for my maverick .....Opps I started that discussion again
